Dear Friends,

The first news letter of this year, a year in which a lot is going to happen.

*What about Sunday 17th June, the day that 20 brave people are going to climb de Alpe d’ Huez..A few of the cyclists hope to go up to the top 6 times but the most aim to do it 4 times. One married couple is going up once and will then return to Wervershoof, a distance of about 1,200 Km. Have a look at www.auxilialpe.nl. You can sponsor  one of the cyclists via the website. It is also possible to have the name of your business or its logo printed on a shirt. For the 20 people who are going to climb the mountain, it is a sporting challenge but they are also enabling one or more wells to be bored in Gambia ( Stichting June ,the Gambia).

*As in recent years we are going to deliver breakfasts on Mothering Sunday (13th May).

*There is a youth service  in Itaguai cathedral  each weekend. The choir is accompanied by Marcelo Macedo on his guitar. We have given him €500 in order to buy a new guitar.

*Our webmaster has given our website a completely new look. It is definitely worthwhile having a look at www.auxilia-brasili-ja.nl and especially the photos taken during our jubilee.

*Itaguai. A project was begun in 2009 in order to involve 42 handicapped people actively in society by means of sport and to teach them social skills. The project has grown to include 65 participants. The group has found and done up premises in Itaguai under the inspired leadership of Ivan Fonseca. A team of volunteers has managed to do this with the help of the handicapped members. A request has been made to Brasili-ja/Auxilia for sports clothes.

*Campaign for Lent: First aid for refugees and the injured in camps in Eldoret and Kisumu in Kenya. Lawyer Mikel Delagrange of the International Tribunal in The Hague goes there regularly to provide legal and material support to the victims . Brasili-ja/Auxilia is supporting this€500.
